SUNDAY 1/25 7:30-9PM
We're hosting Matt Haines, author of the best-selling The Big Book of King Cake and The Little Book of King Cake for a king cake, wine, and cheese pairing class. Matt is going to bring five different king cakes for us to try, including the galette des rois of France, an earlier iteration of New Orleans king cake, and a few examples of modern variations we think you'll love (chocolate ganache, anyone?). We'll pair each of those king cakes with a different wine, + AWARD-WINNING cheesemonger Justin Trosclair of Lady Nellie Oysters will add a cheese to complement each pairing. Attendees will learn about each of these elements, and Matt will share his wealth of king cake knowledge. (Did you know Louisiana's king cake originated from the Saturnalia Festival of ancient Rome?!)
Matt will have books for sale at the event as well, and he'll be happy to personalize one for you or as a gift for the King Cake Lover in your life!
